 Location

Pok Fu Lam is located to the West of Hong Kong Island, overlooking the Lamma Channel and offering spectacular sea views and green open hills. It is becoming increasingly popular with expatriates and locals alike. The new express motorway linking Pok Fu Lam with Central makes the commute into the city about 10 minutes by private car. The University of Hong Kong main buildings and staff accommodation are situated here.

 Accommodation

Accommodation is typically within older low-rise developments, although there are also several newer high-rise buildings. Larger complexes include Scenic Villas and Baguio Villas, both offering a wide range of recreational facilities, particularly appealing to families. The Belcher¡¯s is a new development of six high-rise towers of various sized apartments, and with an extensive club house, shopping centre, and good transport links.

 Transport

Public mini buses and large KMB buses are plentiful and taxis readily available. Some of the larger complexes offer their own shuttle buses for residents into Central.

 Shopping

Some of the larger complexes such as Cyberport, Baguio Villas and Scenic Villas have an on-site supermarket; there are also video hire shops, dry-cleaners, and florists in the neighbourhood. For more comprehensive shopping options, the nearest centres are at Chi Fu, Aberdeen, or Central.

 Medical

The Queen Mary Hospital (a government hospital which is part of the Hong Kong University) and the Duchess of Kent Children¡¯s Hospital are both in the neighbourhood.

 Education

Pok Fu Lam falls within the ESF catchment area for Kennedy School (primary) and West Island School (secondary). Kellett School is a popular independent junior school, which follows the British curriculum. The area is also home to the campus and accommodation for the University of Hong Kong .

 Recreation

Many of the larger residential complexes have on-site facilities. Hong Kong University¡¯s sports facilities are located on the waterfront but these are generally not for public use. The Pokfulam Country Park offers walking trails and picnic sites.
